Frightfully Fun

Join the parade or watch from afar— just don’t leave home without a costume.

For an old-time, downright haunting Halloween adventure, head to Sleepy Hollow (9 miles from WHITE PLAINS, NY). The Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze is a family-friendly event, with more than 4,000 carved pumpkins on display. But beware: In order to see them, you’ll have to roam through the woods where the Headless Horseman once rode.

Another Halloween happening is Little 5 Points Halloween Festival and Parade! in ATLANTA. Adults can dress up and get down (to live music), while kids carve pumpkins and vie for the “Best Costume” title.

For a Halloween spectacular that might be better suited to adults (although everyone’s welcome), head to the Village Halloween Parade, NEW YORK’s answer to Mardi Gras and Carnival. More than 2 million people show up, and it’s listed in 100 Things to Do Before You Die.
