BEAUTY
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
Acrack-of-dawn check-in, long flight or disturbed sleep schedule can be the only downside to an otherwise exciting getaway. Such minor stressors can leave their telltale marks on the delicate eye area, showing up as puffiness, dark circles or a generally tired appearance. Robin Evans, New York aesthetician and owner of Robin Evans Skincare in Manhattan, shares these easy tips for perking up travel-weary eyes. —Christina Kallery
1. Down plenty of H20. “Drinking water helps with puffiness and dark circles because it moves excess fluids and toxins out of the body.”
2. Massage in eye cream or gel. “Gently massage around the eyes, starting from the outside corner and moving inward. Use circular motions for about 20 to 30 seconds.”
3. Hold off on cocktails and coffee. “Avoiding alcohol and caffeine will prevent water retention.”
4. Have a spot of tea. “Chamomile tea bags are known to reduce inflammation. They’re often found in your hotel room. Wet with warm water and leave on lids for 10 minutes.”
5. Don a mask. “Store a cooling, gel-filled eye mask in your refrigerator to help soothe tired eyes and banish puffiness.”
6. Take your vitamins. Look for an eye product that contains vitamin K. “It’s known to alleviate dark circles.”
