Oktoberfest provides a chance to cut loose while experiencing German tradition.

Oktoberfest started in 19th-century Germany to celebrate King Ludwig I’s marriage. Over the years, the main attraction went from the event’s horse races to the Bavarian brews.

Most Oktoberfest celebrations take place in late September and early October. They stay true to the festival’s German origins: Women in dirndls serve up schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerbraten and streudel, while lederhosened men play oompah music.
