you’re BLUSHING!

Don’t make the mistake of wearing too much blush.

THERE’S NOTHING LIKE some color in the cheeks to add radiance, flirty femininity and a hint of seduction. The trick lies in creating a look that’s more blushing beauty than kewpie-doll-cute. Here, beauty mavens Tricia Sawyer and Julie Hewett reveal how to fake the perfect flush—no secret crush necessary.

SO CHEEKY

“Always smile when applying blush,” Sawyer says. “This is the easiest way to see where the apples of your cheeks are. Apply color directly on the apples, then sweep along your cheekbone towards your ear.”

For the best results, take a cue from Mother Nature. “Envision where your face naturally flushes… this is where you should enhance with blush color,” Sawyer says.

GET BRONZED

Bronzers can offer a sun-kissed alternative to blush. “I always swipe a bronzer on top of foundation or mineral mix to sculpt facial contours,” Hewett says.

Be sure to choose the right hue. “It’s important to pick a shade without too much orange or sparkle, which can look artificial,” Hewett says.

For the most natural results, apply bronzer to areas the sun would hit: forehead, cheekbones, nose and chin.

SHINE ON

To add a gorgeous, radiant look to skin, try a shimmer or luminizing product as a finishing touch.

“Stay away from products that are glittery or filled with a lot of sparkle,”
Sawyer says. “Luminosity is much more flattering and natural.”

Mix with foundation for an all-over-radiance effect or apply directly to a few areas you want to highlight. “I pat lightly on cheekbones and eyes to highlight and create a subtle glow,” Hewett says.
