Whatever your taste—jazz, blues, country or classical— this music festival (the largest in the state) has something for you. Angelique Kidjo, Beaux Arts Trio and Béla Fleck are among the big-name performers. With a focus on educational programs, there is also a high school jazz band competition and workshop during the event, which is in its 19th year.

The whole city is getting involved in this celebration. Not only is the Walters Art Museum hosting “Maps: Finding Our Place in the World,” featuring a variety of historic maps, but more than 20 other arts organizations are involved.

Kicking off Charleston’s Antiques Week, this year’s forum, “Terra Incognita: New Discoveries and Influences on the South,” takes a look at the history of decorative arts in the South. Keynote speaker Countess of Arran will discuss the influence of English manors—like her family’s Castle Hill in Devon, England—on the traditional Southern esthetic.
