Next month, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (www.lacma.org) will unveil the first phase of Transformation, a three-phase expansion and renovation project designed by the acclaimed Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The Broad Contemporary Art Museum will be making its debut, a new building with 60,000 square feet of gallery space reserved specifically for contemporary art. In addition to BCAM, phase one will also include the opening of the BP Grand Entrance, an 8,100-square-foot open-air pavilion that will serve as the main entrance and a public art plaza.
