The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota
Sarasota, Florida
1111 Ritz-Carlton Dr 941-309-2100 www.ritzcarlton.com

With its long, tree-lined driveway and gleaming white façade, the Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota is all about grand gestures. Upon arrival, the soaring ceilings, ornate chandeliers and marble floors provide a majestic welcome. All of the 266 guest rooms boast spacious balconies with sweeping views over the city or the marina—a perfect spot to soak in some rays and enjoy Sarasota’s sub-tropical climate.

The in-room dining, Egyptian cotton linens and marble trimmed bathrooms all make it difficult to leave your room and explore. But explore you should. Three miles from the hotel (with complimentary shuttle service all day) sits the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club, a mini resort featuring a waterfront swimming pool, private beach and The Beach Club Grill. For those who would rather stay within a stone’s throw of the hotel, a visit to the on-site swimming pool (there’s one for kids, too) or a trip to the spa—where over 90 beauty and body treatments are offered, including a special treatment room especially for couples—may be more appealing.

Even pooches can enjoy the spa; the hotel’s new Privileged Pup program allows dogs to join in the pampering and enjoy a massage. If you want to give your best friend the ultimate in pet luxury, sign up for the “Paw Package,” which includes an organic gourmet stew, Evian room service and a doggie manicure.

The hotel has a variety of eateries—including the award-winning Vernona, a graceful and sunny dining room with indoor and outdoor seating and seasonal menus of contemporary American cuisine that will satisfy the taste buds of the pickiest gourmands. Among the other options are the Bay View Bar & Grill, a relaxed alfresco restaurant where guests are welcome to remain in their swim suits, and the Lobby Lounge, where a guitarist or harpist provides background music for afternoon tea.

After dinner? Head to the Cà d’Zan, the lively hotel bar where both guests and locals come to enjoy live music and the heavenly Chocolate Martini. Guests can also fill up on a steakhouse-style menu and an expanded selection of appetizers.

Business travelers will appreciate the 24-hour secretarial services, complimentary high-speed internet access and 18,000 square feet of meeting space. And the brand new 18-hole, Tom Fazio-designed golf course provides the perfect escape from your work. The par-72 course is located on 315 acres of tropical landscape with stunning views and a new clubhouse opening this month that offers club rentals, a golf shop and refreshments.

With all these amenities, and an exceedingly high level of service, you may never want to leave this premier hotel.
