Get ready for plumper, prettier lips. Step 1 De-flake. Remove dry skin with a gentle exfoliating scrub made expressly for lips or a toothbrush. Follow with some moisturizing balm to soften lips—but don’t over do it or you’ll make it hard for color to stick. Step 2 Plump. To get a temporary volume boost, try one of the new lip-plumpers on the market. You may feel a slight tingling sensation at first, but not to fear—that just means it’s working. Wait a minute or two before applying color. Step 3 Color. To create the illusion of fullness, Vadhera recommends slicking a dark gloss over the entire lip. Finish with highlights: “Add just a dab of light pink or gold in the center of the lip,” she says.
