In Focus
Photography Exhibition
Nature lovers will adore the new photography exhibition Still Small Voices at Atlanta’s Fernbank Museum of Natural History through May 6. The visual homage to Georgia’s last wild places was inspired by sites featured in the 1978 book The Natural Environments of Georgia, many of which have now been lost. The portraits inspire awe and wonder, and the accompanying poetry and prose lend extra atmosphere. www.fernbankmuseum.org

The Bigger Picture
New Renovation
The Flint Institute of Arts in Michigan is going all-out to celebrate the completion of its $20-million renovation. The new Charles Stewart Mott Wing will house the Donald E. Johnson and the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Galleries, as well as the 19th- and 20th-century European and American collections. Three more galleries will present FIA’s regional, modern and contemporary collections. A special opening exhibition (until January 7), Excavating Egypt, tells the story of late archaeologist William Matthew Petrie and uncovers the lives of early Egyptians through more than 200 artifacts. Add to this an 80-foot mural by Hubert Massey to be unveiled at the event, along with a Rembrandt exhibition, and you have a brand new Flint. www..#64258; intarts.org

Kids Travel
Embassy Suites has just expanded its for-kids, by-kids travel program, Kids-Eye View, to hotels in Miami and Baltimore, among others. Children receive “passports” on arrival at participating venues, with pages to stamp for each Embassy Suites Hotel they visit. They also get a kid-created travel guide, with insider info on the best family outings, outdoor activities and ice-cream shops. NYC kids listed Jackson Hole as a burger must-do and Ray’s as the top pizza pick. Letting kids lead the adults on vacation—how’s that for a Freaky Friday role reversal? www.embassysuites.hilton.com
