The Strip’s classic Flamingo hotel still knows how to create an unforgettable stay.
The Flamingo Hotel
Las Vegas, NV
For an authentic stay full of great entertainment, eating and partying, there’s no place quite like the Flamingo. What you get within the large open casino, elaborate stage, sumptuous gardens and amazing rooms is a sense of history that the newer mega-casinos simply don’t have.
As more and more casinos pack their floors with as many machines as possible, the atmosphere on the floor of the Flamingo’s 77,000-square-foot, Caribbean-themed casino is anything but cramped. It’s a terrific place to watch and be watched when playing at its more than 2,000 machines and 70 gaming tables.
When you want a break from the action on the floor, head to the Flamingo’s huge stage for an intimate evening with some of the biggest stars around. You can feel the history in the plush velvet booths and up on the expansive balcony. Jerry Lewis, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and Richard Pryor have all played the Flamingo. Today, it’s George Wallace, Wayne Newton and the comedy troupe Second City.
George Wallace brings down the house at the popular 10pm show. It’s no wonder, considering he was asked onto Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” only six months after his first comedic performance. If you want to bust your other side, check out Second City, which was the inspiration for “Saturday Night Live.” And, when it comes to Vegas, there is no one like Wayne Newton, another of the Flamingo’s incredible acts.
The Flamingo’s three top-tier restaurants take you to three different corners of the world. Homemade pasta and nothing but fresh ingredients are the order of the day at Ventuno Ristorante; for an unbeatable American option, visit Steakhouse 46.
Or if you want to see and taste the delights of Japanese hibachi, where the chefs chop, sauté and flip your meal on a stove at your table, try Hamada.
One of the best places to party in Vegas is at the Flamingo. From the heavily Caribbean-styled Margaritaville eatery to the enormous pool, where attractive servers bring out a fine array of tropical drinks, you’ve got it all.
And when the day winds down, you can sit back and enjoy your large classic room with its views of the Flamingo’s lush gardens and the Las Vegas Strip. www.caesars.com/flamingo
