Welcome July 2006
Chairman’s Letter
Hello and thank you for flying AirTran Airways
As we approach the dog days of summer, we have lot of exciting developments to share with you. First, a significant event in aviation history: AirTran Airways recently took delivery of the last Boeing 717 ever built. In honor of this milestone, a special ceremony was held at Boeing’s manufacturing facility in Long Beach, California. On behalf of the more than 7,000 AirTran Airways Crew Members nationwide, I had the honor of presenting a donation to the Boeing Employee Community Fund as a token of appreciation for the role Boeing employees have played in the success of both AirTran Airways and the entire airline industry.
Next, we’re proud to announce that we’ve added even more nonstop routes to our already extensive route map. Beginning July 6, AirTran Airways will offer nonstop service between Rochester and Boston. Also, in an effort to encourage rebuilding of the Gulf Coast, we will restart service between Gulfport/Biloxi and Tampa on July 6. Additionally, new service between Gulfport/Biloxi and Fort Lauderdale will begin August 29. With this new schedule, AirTran Airways will fly nonstop to three cities from Gulfport/ Biloxi: Atlanta, Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale. It’s our way of helping accelerate the recovery and growth of the Gulf Coast.
We’re also adding frequency to our existing routes. Beginning July 6, we will offer additional flights between Atlanta and Dayton, Atlanta and Minneapolis, Atlanta and Philadelphia, and Boston and Chicago Midway. On August 9, additional flights will be added to the Atlanta and Boston route, and to the Atlanta and Washington Dulles route.
Finally, some general travel news: This summer is estimated to be the busiest summer travel season ever—when all is said and done, nearly 207 million passengers are expected to board US airliners for domestic and international trips. AirTran Airways would like to remind you to book your travel well in advance and be sure to allow enough time for check-in and security screening at the airport. When it’s time to book, be sure to visit airtran.com, where you can always find our lowest fares—even during the busiest of travel seasons. And save time by checking in online before you head to the airport.
Thanks again for flying with us. We hope to see you again soon.
Cordially,
Joe Leonard
Chairman and CEO
