Step Back in Time

Walking Tour

Ben Edwards, author and tour guide for the new Walking Tours of Historic Boston, knows his stuff. His ancestors arrived in Boston over 300 years ago, and he has built up an impressive collection of the city’s history—photos, maps and newspapers. Walkers visit 14 historic sites on the two-hour tour, during which Ben shares fascinating facts, stories and memorabilia. Each tour participant also has free access to the downloadable, three-hour MP3 version of Ben’s book, One April in Boston, which tells the tale of his ancestors and their connection to historic events in the city. www.walkingboston.com

Sleep Over

Hotel Opening

The newly opened Conrad Indianapolis is one of only four Conrad properties in the US, after New York, Miami and Chicago. All 241 guest rooms boast free high-speed wireless internet access and flatscreen TVs, and there is a choice of restaurants, including the Vitesse lounge, a tapas and caviar bar. Ten thousand square feet of state-of-the-art meeting space make this a well-equipped business hotel too, with access to the Indiana Convention Center, RCA Dome and Circle Center mall via a climate-controlled covered skywalk. www.conradindianapolis.com

Cabin Fever

New Restaurant

The Rockies come to New York City at Aspen, a recently opened restaurant that has transformed from snowy winter retreat to sunny mountainside cabin for the summer. Small plates, ideal for sharing, are served up until 4am, so you can pick your way through a gourmet burrito trio, mini lobster rolls and Tuscan white bean salad at any hour. The Gonzo Room, a private dining room inspired by Hunter S. Thompson, is one of the most exceptional aspects of Aspen, complete with humorous quotes on the wall from the writer, and a private bar. www.aspen-nyc.com

Being Humans
