The 13thannual International Flower & Garden Festival will be held at Epcot April 21–June 11, featuring Disney character topiaries, gardening seminars, speeches by gardening celebrities and over 30 million blooms. Nightly “Flower Power” concerts in the American Gardens theatre feature music from Davy Jones, Herman’s Hermits and other acts from the ’60s and ’70s. Disney’s fireworks aren’t the only decorations lighting up the night sky.
Due to its location near two coasts, Orlando has a unique weather system that produces one of nature’s most romantic spectacles: magnificent lightning during summer th understorms. there are more lightning displays here than anywhere else in the country, averaging 90 a year.
Just a short drive from Orlando is Florida’s Space Coast. Future astronauts will want to explore the Kennedy Space Center’s rocket garden, space shuttle plaza, the Apollo/Saturn V Center and “Mad Mission to Mars” program. If you time your visit just right, you might see rockets blasting off on their way to outer space.
