BIRD’S EYE VIEW
Dramatic shift of perspective makes the landscape photography of Alex Maclean fire the imagination. for the past 25 years, Maclean has been piloting his cessna 182 plane across the states, capturing the abstract and familiar and presenting the results in stunning compositions. Out of context, colors, shapes and repetition produce startling effects. “An aerial photograph gives you an immediate shift in scale,” he explains. “It allows you to see large areas and objects as models. The eye is drawn to the unfamiliar, wanting to place it back in order and make it familiar. From the air, you recognize patterns and understand relationships that you might never imagine otherwise. The experience fills you with wonder.”
